Dr. Beth Tumarkin is a board certified psychiatrist who approaches each client as an individual and who listens to understand their experiences. She spends a lot of time with each client in order to develop the best treatment recommendations and has regular follow up appointments during the time they are at Tranquil Shores. She focuses on educating about the ins and outs of various treatment options, which helps with motivation and treatment adherence.
Dr. Tumarkin graduated from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 1998, and completed her residency in Adult Psychiatry with a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2003. She took a position with a Florida Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) team, working with profoundly and chronically ill patients. Due to her Child and Adolescent Fellowship and the FACT team position, Dr. Tumarkin is extremely aware of the role trauma plays in mental illness and addiction and makes treatment recommendations accordingly.
Dr. Tumarkin has been married for 24 years, has 5 daughters, 4 of whom still live at home, and spends her time driving various kids to soccer practice and trainings. She makes her own pizza dough from scratch and has made some killer cinnamon rolls and pretzels. Her perfect day would include paddle boarding, sushi, and reading a book in a shady hammock.
