Chad Johnson
Founder & CEO
Bio
Chad Johnson is the founder and CEO of Tranquil Shores, a leading dual-diagnosis treatment facility established in 2009. Drawing from his own personal experience, Chad developed a treatment model he believes offers an effective approach for individuals struggling with co-occurring disorders. While there are many ways to address addiction, Chad believes that a highly individualized approach can help create the foundation for long-term success in recovery.
Chad understands the real consequences of addiction from personal experience. During his early adulthood in Dallas, Texas, he built a successful career with a Wall Street investment firm. With hard work came significant professional success, but after thirteen years in finance, his life took a unexpected turn. As his addiction progressed, Chad lost his job, strained relationships with family and friends, and eventually found himself homeless and living in his car. It was during this time that Chad came to terms with his addiction and began the process of rebuilding his life. That period of reflection and recovery ultimately led him to begin laying the groundwork for Tranquil Shores.
Chad is an active member of his local church and gives his time and resources to charitable organizations that support at-risk children. He is a regular volunteer at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, where he serves as an escort helping facilitate visits between hospitalized children and pet therapy volunteers. Outside of work, Chad is an avid Peloton enthusiast. He and his wife, Mary, enjoy spending time outdoors with their son and two daughters.
